Nootka Sound Fishing
Nootka Sound, positioned off the West Coast of Vancouver Island, is famous for its large runs of Chinook Salmon during July and August. The Chinook Salmon are mostly in the 25lb range but it is not uncommon to catch a Tyee (30lb+). The waters of Nookta Sound is home to spectacular Coho salmon and bottom (halibut, snapper, and ling cod) fishing. There are many differnet fishing areas. We can fish near shore in calmer fishing waters or head off-shore where there is usually bit of a ground swell. For the adventurous fisherman Nootka Sound offers serious World Class fishing. We offer 3 day three night packages fishing out of Thasis, approximately 2.5 hours drive West of Campbell River.
The rivers surrounding the Campbell River area on Vancouver Island offer excellent opportunities for a successful freshwater fishing experience. In Spring and early Summer we offer flyfishing for cutthroat and rainbow trout on light weight rods. During mid to late Summer the local streams inhabit Summer run Steelhead. The Pink Salmon also begin to return to the rivers during this time. The Coho and Chinook follow in the next few weeks. In October the hard fighting Chums will arrive back to the river awaiting your egg sucking leech fly. We offer a full day of fresh water fishing with 2 anglers to 1 experienced guide.
